A Bun in the Oven

I am pregnant again!!!

I am so happy and thankful that I can't hide it anymore..

Some people said that you have to wait until you pass the first trimester before breaking the news..

And I am now in my 14 weeks (3 months and 2 weeks)..

I am praying hard here, hoping that my baby will be fine and I will have a healthy pregnancy throughout the 40 weeks journey..

Alhamdulillah.. This is my second pregnancy and I couldn't be thankful enough this time around.. I think my husband and I are more ready to be parents as well..

I won't elaborate on the emotional roller coaster I had about 5 months ago when I had my miscarriage.. I have written one or two para on that actually, but decided not to write or think about it anymore..

I have accepted my fate even though I felt less like a woman at that time.. That was because I thought I was strong.. But I wasn't and it devastated me..

But everything happens for a reason, I think I know more on what to expect now and am still on a learning process about this whole pregnancy thingy..

I decided to write again as I feel it might be useful to share with other pregnant mommies or mommy-to-be..

I still can't find any other good blog for mommy-to-be other than my Mak Su's blog (http://intanorazam.blogspot.com/) and my colleague's (http://yeopaja.blogspot.com/)

SO I WANT TO SAY HI TO ALL PREGNANT MOMMIES OUT THERE AND PLEASE FEEL FREE TO DROP ME YOUR LINK HERE!!

Hehehe.. I think I might have to say good bye to the OLD me..

Then: 55 kg (August 2009)

And say hi to the NEW me..

Now: 63 kg (July 2012) and growing :p

As A Wife...

Saya ada terbaca satu entry ni, daripada http://renda-perancis.blogspot.com/..
Alamak! 95% sama kot dengan life saya sekarang.. Itulah, penat rupanya.. Hehe..

___________________________________________________________________________

January ada 3 entry.
Febuary ada 2 entry.
March ada 1 entry.

Momentum menulis semakin lama semakin menurun.
Bukan tak minat menulis.
Minat sangatttttt!

Tapi, kesibukkan.
Cheh alasan.

Tapi betul, bila dah jadi seorang isteri yang dah duduk bersama serumah, baru rasa, penat, sibuk, tak punya banyak masa untuk diri sendiri. Banyak masa untuk suami.

Pagi-pagi sebelum azan Subuh, mata dah mula rasa nak bukak.
Tapi, nak jugak dengar azan Subuh baru nak buka mata.

Kemudian bersihkan badan sebelum suami pulang kerja.
Pastikan pintu pagar dah bukak so senang suami nak masukkan keretanya.
Siapkan untuk masak waktu dinner nanti.

Suami pulang, sambut suami.
Teman suami makan petang.
Kalau I rajin berhenti beli goreng pisang ke beli keropok ke.
Kalau tak rajin, sediakan je la air manis sejuk dan makanan sampingan.
Suami kena alas perut dulu sebelum dinner.
Nanti perut die lapar dan mengamuk, susah la I. Hehe.
Masak-masak untuk dinner.
Itupun kalau rajin. Hihihi.
Kalau tak rajin memang beritahu suami suruh tapau sahaja.
Tapi, makanan tapau seringkali tekak saya tak selera nak makan.
Mesti makan sekadar untuk perut diisi sahaja.

Lepas solat, kena siap-sediakan makan malam untuk suami.
Dah makan, kena cuci pinggan pulak.
Lepas tu, tengok tv sambil lipat kain.
Lepas tu sibuk tanya suami, baju mana nak pakai esok, nak pergi iron baju.
Lepas tu, nak kena tanya suami, kot-kot die nak minum milo suam.
Lepas tu, barulah saya boleh berehat dan tidur.

Rutin esok pagi seperti semalam jugak.

Penat jadi isteri.
Tapi, berbaloi.
Hihi.

Jadi, sebelum kahwin, sila prepare mental dan fizikal.
Tanggugjawab tu dah bertambah.

Suami, waktu pagi memang energy dia high. Tetttt. Haha.
Tapi, bila dah petang, energy die dah mula menurun. Hehehe.
Jadi, jangan marah kalau suami merungut penat, penat, penat.
Kita pun sibuk nak bertanding, I pun penat jugakkk. Jangan.
Senyum sahaja. Dan dengar ajela bebelen dia.
Sebab kite ni perempuan, memang Superwoman! Hehe.

Buat pengantin baru, selamat menjalankan tanggungjawab sebagai seorang isteri!
Jangan merungut, sebaliknya berterima kasih pada suami.

=)
____________________________________________________________________

Setakat ni, suami saya takde lah membebel.. Perli2 usik2 je.. Kesian kadang2 tu bila saya tak sempat iron baju dia, dia iron baju sendiri.. Tapi suami saya ni suka masak, suka duduk dapur.. So kadang-kadang ada gak dia buat breakfast untuk saya.. Saya berterima kasih untuk itu.. And paling best sekali, bila dia makan 'bertambah' time dinner.. Kadang-kadang saya ambil masa lama nak masak kat dapur.. Sorry Sayang buat Sayang tunggu..

And sekarang ni saya tak tau kenapa saya suka basuh baju and lipat baju.. Dulu tak macam tu pun.. Happy sebab baju bersih dan wangi kot.. Hehe..

Begitulah ceritanya.. So terima kasih kepada Miss Renda Perancis untuk entry ni.. Seronok betul saya  baca sebab tahu rasa penat tapi happy tu bukan saya sorang yang rasa :)

Iron Grip

I believe that throughout one’s life, he will continue to find himself. The search is never-ending. That’s what I believe. I don’t know about you.

We’ll come to a certain point of time, where we would think that we have everything. We would think that we are content. But being human, we will never be able to satisfy ourselves. We will keep on dreaming while trying to compete with each other and achieve our ambition in life.

The only full stop is when you leave the world behind. You leave this hedonistic world and come back to the ONE.

While we are doing all those “businesses” on earth, we often forget that we are answerable to HIM. The basic questions of what, who, when, where, why and how. Sometimes you just want to answer it later than now. That’s why we end up doing things without thinking, or specifically without questioning ourselves, the reason behind our deeds.

Sometimes you feel that things that happen to you are too good to be true. Sometimes you feel like you are playing with fire.

It’s ironic isn’t it? You need to have the skills to tell them apart. If you feel that things that happen are becoming too much for you to handle then maybe it is time for you to do some reality check and start to get a grip on your life again.

Friends are like sandwich. They fulfill you :)

The post title is quoted from my gorgeous darling, Dayana. Thanks for the caption and the pics, babe!

Very fulfilling indeed!

In 20 or 30 years time or when I'm old enough to get grandchildren, I want to look back at these photos and be able to smile as I have experienced the most amazing time with my girlfriends.

My Gorgeous Geeks!

You're only young once. Do all those silly little things while you can. Live life to the fullest.
Because one day, you have to give some of them up.

Festival of Lights

Malaysia is known as a melting pot of different cultures, religions and ethnicities. All coming together to form a multicultural country that we live in now. I love the fact that Malaysians, regardless race, creed or color, celebrate some of its biggest celebrations together harmoniously. That is also why Malaysia is among the Top 10 Countries in The World with Most Public Holidays. Because we have too many festivities to celebrate every year!

Speaking of which, I was involved again in an event at my workplace just recently. In the spirit of 1Malaysia, we rallied behind the effort in realizing the success of the Open House to celebrate Deepavali. Some of the important elements such as "Kolam" (a form of Indian painting that is drawn using colorful rice powder) and "Kuthu Vilakku" (a lamp with a long metal handle and a broader head which holds oil) were also injected to the event to create the perfect ambiance for this "Festival of Lights".

As much as I wanted to elaborate on the event, I don't want you to feel bored reading all the details. Plus, it's getting late and my fingers feel numb. Hehehe.. Hence, enjoy the pictures!!!

Clockwise: Deputy Foreign Minister and wife light up the oil lamp, Performers from Indrani Dance Academy, Indian Hand Adornments, Madhu: Daughter of Indrani Dance Academy's Pricipal, Kolam and Siew: Singing "Bukan Cinta Biasa"

Shifa and Friends! What a happy day for all of us!

"Bole Chudiyan" and "En Chella Peru Apple"

With our biggest supporters :)

Someone Like You

I'm currently listening to this song by Adele. Every now and then. At home, in the car, at the office. Her voice is so powerful that you could feel the song by heart. It can give you goosebumps if you listen to the lyrics word by word. Bold yet beautiful. Other than "Rolling in the Deep", this is the only song by Adele that I'm listening to.

The story behind the lyrics may not related to some of us, but somehow I can relate to her by listening to this song. I feel like she is my best friend who is telling me her story. How devastated she was with her broken relationship.

And this part touches me the most..

"Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead"

After all, love never has a happy ending. I can't imagine losing the people that I love. I tend not to dwell on it. I am not prepared. And I never will.

"Nothing compares,
No worries or cares,
Regret and mistakes,
They're memories made,
Who would have known how
bittersweet this would taste?"

For now, I just want to live the moment and enjoy every nanosecond of it.

The past and future is secondary to me.

Call me hopeless romantic, I don't mind.

Look Who’s Cooking!!!

She's working it out!

This is the first cookbook by Eva Longoria, one of the hottest woman of the century, with the curves to die for, both by her male and female fan. She wrote this book, of course by the help of others, i.e. PA, mother, sisters, personal chef, nutritionist, editor, graphic designer, photographer, stylist, make-up artist and the list goes on. Just look at the book cover, how can she struts herself confidently like that after cooking? I mean if it happens in real life. Yes, it’s for marketing purpose obviously. A real housewife doesn’t look sleek and clean and yummy like that after working her ass off in the kitchen, huh? By the look of the cover and the book title, Eva’s Kitchen: Cooking with Love for Family and Friends, you might find yourself feeling inferior when you realize that this does not happen to all of us most of the time.

I’m having a little tiny bit of problem here when it comes to food. I love to eat, I don’t mind waiting for my food while it is being prepared, but I don’t really fancy cooking for myself, or for others. Kesian laki aku, I know. But, on the other side, I don’t mind washing the dishes or cleaning the kitchen after having the meal prepared by others. In some occasion, especially during my student days in the UK, I would find myself in the kitchen, cooking, when there was no one else preparing food for me or when I felt like hosting a makan-makan for my friends. And baking is not in my dictionary, mind you.

To my future husband, please bear with me, please accept the way I am, that one of my weaknesses is I am not a great cook. But to tell you the truth, I have this intention that I’ll try my best to cook for you, at least once a week, once we live together. Insha’ Allah. I know that you are better cook than myself, that’s why I fell in love with you *puke* (I knew it! You must have put something in the food that I ate). I really appreciate that you spent the whole month of winter holiday of 2007 cooking for me and my “friends”. Dear “friends”, you know who you are. Lol. Come to think of it now, how could I be easily fooled by your ayam masak merah, nasi ayam, nasi minyak, nasi lemak etc at that time, not knowing that you had a hidden agenda! Pfftt.

Well, it’s going to be a huge challenge altogether when we shift to another stage of our life. I just want to be reminded, how I fell in love with you 3 years ago. Definitely, kuasa air tangan has proved to be one of the reasons. Just so you know Sayang, being pretty (sleek-cum-clean-cum-polished-cum-yummy) and cooking fingerlicious food don't go along well together. I can only do ONE thing at a time. Peace out :p

My Dear "Friends" hehehehehe (January 2008)

Zapin, Buah Cempedak and Joget

When I thought that I would leave the dancing scene forever, I danced again last two weeks for an event at my workplace.

Oh.. how I miss practicing with those girls.. Delfina, Mega, Liyana, Azura, Vanitha and Nadiah. I miss Lisya too, our dance choregrapher who were not be able to dance with us as she was out of the country, Saya yang menurut perintah, Berkhidmat untuk negara, as you call it.

I joined the Dance Club of my residential college, Kolej Kenanga when I was in UiTM. We performed for most of our college events and sometimes for dinners by other faculties too. It's a shame that I lost all the photos and videos when my laptop crashed. No backup whatsoever. I wish I had a YouTube account at that time. I wish I was smart enough to upload it online so that at least I would have a backup by now :(

I got the opportunity to perform again when I was in Lancaster University. It was for Lancaster University International Evening, an annual event for the international students of the university to showcase their culture and to mingle with each other. We don't have the typical "Malaysian Night" at Lancaster as the Malaysian community was very small. So when we had the opportunity to perform, we were more than happy to show to the people in Lancaster of what Malaysia is or Malaysians are like. I am lucky this time around because Fazrul recorded the performance and uploaded it in YouTube yeay!!

The whole concept of our performance was by none other the President of Malaysian Society at that time, Rgen! He was such a genius to come up with the idea of having both elements of acting and dancing for a 15 minutes performance. He was like the producer of our little show. I just love the fact that all of us, the Malaysian undergraduates of Lancaster University were also involved in the show.

I am not good dancer, but somehow I managed to choreograph the steps for the Joget. We danced in pair for the Joget and I thought for the guys, the best dancer was Don (who also played the Sultan) and the funniest was Epy (light green Baju Melayu)! Az, my senior choreographed the steps for the Zapin. The play was loosely inspired by the legendary story of Sultan Mahmud Mangkat Dijulang. Our performance became the highlight of the evening as we were the only group that had a play and some joget lambak at the end of it.

The Undergraduates of Lancaster University Malaysian Students Society

So here are the performance...

Part I (The Arrival of the Sultan and Zapin)

Part II (Sultan, Dang Anum & Laksmana Bentan)

Part III (Joget Pahang and Joget Lambak)

p/s If you want to have some good laugh, go watch min 1:21 of Part II and you will see a ridiculously-clad pregnant woman with high-pitched voice doing her act :D

Wedding bells!

I received a text message from the bride-to-be today that I'm being invited to her Malam Berinai! Yeay!

Can't believe how fast time flies. Just about three weeks ago we celebrated her last few days as a single girl lady!

Peer pressure is on for sure! For me, of course! But I don't know about the other single ladies in the group (exceptional for Mrs. Syed, Mrs. Chib and Mrs. Ross)! Reality hits especially when you had those cute little babies joining the bachelorette dinner and late-night activities. I felt like breastfeeding hugging them all the time!

Happiness I :DDDDDD

Happiness II : Control ayu before the food arrived and makan sampai comot :)

Everyone was trying to cover their stomach after the dinner using either their hands or the 'bride-to-be' sash or the baby. Oh, and the one in the pink dress was actually trying hard to hold her breath so that the tummy looks flat :p

Not to forget.. Our precious little ones that became the props of the day! My lovely bebot babies..

Mummies and their mini-me! Aren't they the cutest?

To our beloved bride-to-be,

Can you believe that less than 48 hours, you will be a Mrs.?
Congratulations dear!
We are all so happy for you..
You'll be the prettiest bride ever..
Don't be scared darling..
We pray that all the jitters and nerves will go away..
Believe me, he will be blown away by you..

To you Mr.,
Treat our darling like a Queen, will you?

To both of you, congratulations again! See you in the next three occasions okay?

Baby, Baby, Baby, Oh..

I was doing some cleaning in my iPhone; updating applications, saving new contact, deleting pictures when I realized that there are a lot of babies in my photo gallery. I couldn't recall since when I became a baby lover. As far as I remember, I didn't touch babies. I didn't know how to interact with babies. Babies can't talk.. Oh, but now I think I do know how to communicate with them.. I just love it when they laugh, even when they cry too (Yeah, wait until I have my own and see if I enjoy seeing my baby cries!). And sometimes I 'baby-talk' unconsciously..

Let's meet the Babies..................

Clockwise : Luqman Alhakim, Nur'Ain Shah, Iman Dani, Qaira, Muhammad Mikael, Raeesa Aulya, Hana Batrisya and Shayna Alaia!

To all the babies, Aunty Shifa would like to wish you Happy Eid Mubarak (banyak ke korang dapat duit raya? belanja la sikit..). Aunty Shifa minta maaf zahir dan batin kalau terganas dengan the babies.. Kalau the babies tak suke Aunty Shifa dukung ke.. Aunty Shifa bau masam ke.. Aunty Shifa pernah tergigit ke.. Sengaja gigit ke (Hana nangis kan kena gigit.. Mikael happy je..).

Kalau Aunty Shifa terkasar bahasa ke (yelah, I mana tau bahasa Baby sangat..) Nanti kalau jumpa, Aunty Shifa bagi duit raya tau..

Love you all babies!! Muaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh zillion times!!

Bunda

I've just talked to my mom. We seldom talk on the phone. But once we start talking, we just couldn't stop. And when I go back to Malacca, we talk till the wee hours. I talk to her once a week at least. Minimum for one hour. But I know some of my adult friends who call their mother everyday.

Talking to her is very comforting. She's a very good listener in the sense that she doesn't condemn me whenever she disagrees with the things I said. Most of the time, she's very understanding.

We hug and kiss a lot. I remember the last night I was in Malaysia before I fly to UK in 2007, she kissed every single part of my face saying that she would miss me when I was sleeping. I didn't move or anything. I pretended that I was asleep.

If we are mad at each other, we don't say sorry immediately. Actually, no apologies at all most of the time. We don't show sad emotions to each other as in crying as I know that both of us will feel weird.

After speaking to her just now, I come to a term that I have to call her more often. This post is an official reminder for me to do so. As strong as she appears she could be, she's a human and still need a shoulder to cry on.

Title? You tell me.

I don't have any specific title this time.

One thing that I'm very weak at.. Writing fast.. As a blogger, I have to learn this skill. Once you get an idea or inspired, you draft it in your head and put it on writing as quick as possible. How to get your story structured, the pictures or video organized and nicely edited and so on and so forth. In a short time. Yes, or else this blog will die in vain.

A lot of things happened to me during my hiatus. But I'm a lucky enough to have people around me that has became my support system. My family, boyfriend, colleague, bosses, in short, just everyone who is making my life easier.

I also venture into something recently. Just to occupy my weekend with something useful and beneficial. I don't want to see it solely on the monetary gain perspective. In general, I'm glad that now my weekends are not wasted anymore (Mind you, I sleep a lot during weekend).

Anyway, congratulations to Adham Fazuan and wife! Attended his wedding yesterday. I determined to come to the wedding amidst my pack weekend as I have missed some of my colleagues wedding before. I don't want to feel guilty anymore.

I love the blue team and his wife is so gorgeous. Err.. Adham, kau pun kacak gak. Sorry curi gambar from Facebook.

My beloved cousin now back in the office and last month she nagged at me to join the Feel Good Run NTV7. I promised her that I would register but actually I forgot my promise until yesterday. Hoho.. And till  now, I haven't registered yet. That's another story because she doesn't know that and later on after work, commencing today, we are going to start working out for the 'run'.

I'm so lazy to do the online registration. Haha.. If only she knew.. I'm a traditionalist in the sense that I'm a bit resistant to Information Technology. So doing registration online is another thing that I hate.

Okay so she has prepared this note for our 'work-out' routine this week..

Cuzzie, I'm going to ditch Friday, Saturday and Sunday for your information.

Hoho.. She's so bersemangat that I just kept quiet when she babbled about the schedule. I know she doesn't really check on my blog so she doesn't know that I'm not going to join her in the weekends.

So it's already 6.04 pm. We have changed the plan to swimming later in the evening for today. Gotta go now! Grab a piece or two of pisang goreng before I start this so-called 'intensive work-out' routine with cuzzie.

At least I write a bit of something today. Rather than nothing, kan? Ciao!

They Call It "Awful Normal"

I fell asleep when I was reading A Doctor In The House yesterday. It was only 8.00 pm and unwillingly, I woke up later at 11.20 pm, having 10 minutes left before my favourite TV series of all time, Desperate Housewives came to its end (that particular episode I mean, it’s now in its 7th season).
I was mad, really mad at myself because I would wait for the Tuesday to come every week so that I can watch the latest season of the series and last night I missed that out.
Fine.
So I was fine with it.
But then I was mad again because I couldn’t sleep so I ended up watching CSI:NY and Oprah wishing that I would get all sleepy from watching TV.
No, I don’t. I end up typing this right now. Oprah has brought up the issue of ‘sexual abuse’, an issue which marked a black stint of her adolescent life. She even became pregnant at the tender age of 14 but her son died shortly after birth. Having sexually abused by her own family members (cousin, uncle and a family friend), it is indeed very impressive to note that all these rather bad childhood experience of her had ignited the ‘making’ of Oprah that we know today.
This time, Oprah interviewed a family. There were the father, the mother and the abuser who is also their eldest son and another brother (or relative, I can’t recall). The victim (the sister of the abuser himself) was nowhere to be seen.
An interesting anecdote that I want to share was when Oprah commented that usually the abuser-victim relationship would appear normal on the surface, relating on her own experience, on how she had to make scramble eggs for the monster-uncle upon his request, during a usual family gathering in the kitchen. This was really hard for her, as she was in the position to have a normal niece-uncle relationship with this guy, who then continued to bedevil and betray this relationship in the background.
*The guy who molested his own sister then lamented on his defense that ‘man/boy’ get molested too, just like him. I missed the first part of the interview (because of CSI:NY), so I didn’t exactly get his side of story. But, duhh. You are making an excuse here man, you molested your own sister for God’s sake! There is nothing acceptable for this misdemeanour if you were sane. Oprah seemed to be annoyed, by the look of her face. She went on asking something like ‘So, how do you feel right now? Having realized that you molested your own sister..... blablabla’.  This guy responded something like ‘No, this is not just about my sister...... blablabla’. Hmmm...... I personally feel that if you want to go public talking about something that cause embarrassment to you, be a man, face the fact, don’t deny it. *
Some people may dismiss this issue especially when it happens in a family, the most unlikely environment to take place for such event, thinking that sometimes it just a mere made-up allegations of the victims or sometimes the family would be in denial and keep it as a secret without looking for further ‘in-house’ solutions or help from the outside.
To the victims, I can feel you.
Regardless of the gender (not in the above case unfortunately as he was trying to make it as his defense), I can truly feel you.
The lost of trust. The betrayal. The anger. The disappointment. The fear. The pain. Everything.
If you feel you are at your lowest point of life, fight it. Cry your heart out but don't take too long.
Tell the stories. To the right people.
It is not a deterrent for you to swim bigger seas.
Heartbreaking as it is, God will be with you.
Something happens for a reason. Realize that your source of power lies within you.
Take care, okay?

Lots of Love,
Shifa

Happy 25th Birthday KHJ

Dear KHJ,

Happy Birthday!! Semoga panjang umur & murah rezeki!!

Miss you like crazy!! It's different now that we have our career and live in two different cities :(

I don't see you that much these days. But you know how much we love each other company whenever we have the opportunity to meet, don't you?

Should we celebrate? I don't know... We are very much aware of each other habit too right?

Promises are meant to be broken, aren't they? Applicable to both of us :D

We often miss each other but seldom make any effort to meet because of the distance, time, having no transport yadayadiyadu

Nonetheless, I love you for who you are and I want to tell you that you are the most understanding friend I have.

I wish the very best for your future and I hope all of your wishes come true.

Left: He was trying to look taller. Right: His actual size compared to me. :p

Please, don't hate me for the pictures.

Lots of Love,

Shifa
