Festival of Lights

Malaysia is known as a melting pot of different cultures, religions and ethnicities. All coming together to form a multicultural country that we live in now. I love the fact that Malaysians, regardless race, creed or color, celebrate some of its biggest celebrations together harmoniously. That is also why Malaysia is among the Top 10 Countries in The World with Most Public Holidays. Because we have too many festivities to celebrate every year!

Speaking of which, I was involved again in an event at my workplace just recently. In the spirit of 1Malaysia, we rallied behind the effort in realizing the success of the Open House to celebrate Deepavali. Some of the important elements such as "Kolam" (a form of Indian painting that is drawn using colorful rice powder) and "Kuthu Vilakku" (a lamp with a long metal handle and a broader head which holds oil) were also injected to the event to create the perfect ambiance for this "Festival of Lights".

As much as I wanted to elaborate on the event, I don't want you to feel bored reading all the details. Plus, it's getting late and my fingers feel numb. Hehehe.. Hence, enjoy the pictures!!!

Clockwise: Deputy Foreign Minister and wife light up the oil lamp, Performers from Indrani Dance Academy, Indian Hand Adornments, Madhu: Daughter of Indrani Dance Academy's Pricipal, Kolam and Siew: Singing "Bukan Cinta Biasa"

Shifa and Friends! What a happy day for all of us!

"Bole Chudiyan" and "En Chella Peru Apple"

With our biggest supporters :)

Wedding bells!

I received a text message from the bride-to-be today that I'm being invited to her Malam Berinai! Yeay!

Can't believe how fast time flies. Just about three weeks ago we celebrated her last few days as a single girl lady!

Peer pressure is on for sure! For me, of course! But I don't know about the other single ladies in the group (exceptional for Mrs. Syed, Mrs. Chib and Mrs. Ross)! Reality hits especially when you had those cute little babies joining the bachelorette dinner and late-night activities. I felt like breastfeeding hugging them all the time!

Happiness I :DDDDDD

Happiness II : Control ayu before the food arrived and makan sampai comot :)

Everyone was trying to cover their stomach after the dinner using either their hands or the 'bride-to-be' sash or the baby. Oh, and the one in the pink dress was actually trying hard to hold her breath so that the tummy looks flat :p

Not to forget.. Our precious little ones that became the props of the day! My lovely bebot babies..

Mummies and their mini-me! Aren't they the cutest?

To our beloved bride-to-be,

Can you believe that less than 48 hours, you will be a Mrs.?
Congratulations dear!
We are all so happy for you..
You'll be the prettiest bride ever..
Don't be scared darling..
We pray that all the jitters and nerves will go away..
Believe me, he will be blown away by you..

To you Mr.,
Treat our darling like a Queen, will you?

To both of you, congratulations again! See you in the next three occasions okay?

Happy 25th Birthday KHJ

Dear KHJ,

Happy Birthday!! Semoga panjang umur & murah rezeki!!

Miss you like crazy!! It's different now that we have our career and live in two different cities :(

I don't see you that much these days. But you know how much we love each other company whenever we have the opportunity to meet, don't you?

Should we celebrate? I don't know... We are very much aware of each other habit too right?

Promises are meant to be broken, aren't they? Applicable to both of us :D

We often miss each other but seldom make any effort to meet because of the distance, time, having no transport yadayadiyadu

Nonetheless, I love you for who you are and I want to tell you that you are the most understanding friend I have.

I wish the very best for your future and I hope all of your wishes come true.

Left: He was trying to look taller. Right: His actual size compared to me. :p

Please, don't hate me for the pictures.

Lots of Love,

Shifa

Lil' Diva @ Buncit's Akikah

I've promised to post an entry on the Akikah last week right?

Better late than never...!!!

This little one deserves a special entry coz obviously, she's a Diva.

Yes, a Lil' Diva with a bit of extra meat in her belly.

Her name is Shayna Alaia Syibli (I love Alaia the most!). The father said that the Marhaban peeps stuttered when they tried to pronounce the whole name. Quite a mouthful name to the elderly apparently.

This is the picture that prove how diva-ish she could be!

Look at her hand! And she was sleeping! - Boyfie's iPhone 4

Oh, I gain knowledge on babies once in a while, whenever I meet friends that have kids. For example, babies sleep a lot. Especially the young ones (below 6 months). I kinda knew this fact before, but only realize and observe it when my life revolves around babies recently.

With the proud parents :D - my 6-years-old camera

We look super happy in this picture, did we? We were actually trying to contain our laugh. That was because the father, said something when the photographer was taking our picture,

"Ada lagi eh orang pakai kamera macam ni?"

Sheesh...!!! I know my camera looked so worn-out! Haha, layak buat baling anjing je!

Can't really see the belly from this pic!

Whatever it is, even we were there for a very short time, we had fun meeting Shayna and also thanks for the fingerlicious food!

Shayna has put smile on a lot of us even before she was born - credit pictures to Azzwaa

Shayna Alaia, be a good daughter to your mummy and daddy.

You are their one true treasure, they love you so much, they trade the world for you.

We love you too. And hope you grow sweeter, smarter and prettier with each passing year.

Lots of Love,

Aunty Shifa & Uncle Rapek

p/s: Eh, why the last sentence sounds like a birthday wish?

World Book Day

I am writing this entry for what we did last Friday.

My favorite companion for my Friday lunch would always be these two girls.

Little Miss Liyana and Little Miss Zaza.

We always fill the time by being chatterbox throughout the 2 hours break.

So many to talk about, so little time.

After that, we would be exhausted. Not good for work either.

So, last Friday, we decided that our Friday Lunch Session should be filled with somewhat more 'meaningful' and 'beneficial' activities other than gossiping.

So we celebrated the World Book Day.

Not really a book. I know.

We had our lunch and off we went to MPH to get Tun M's latest memoir.

But as usual, don't judge a book by its cover.

Tun M's had this 'manja' pose on the cover of his book. It doesn't reflect the content of the book. So deceiving.

Hoho. But still, Tun M's pose is so cute ;)

I was showing off the book to my colleague. Look how little Miss Z and Miss L are compared to a 'giant' me.

I fell asleep when reading some of the 'serious' chapter on Malaysia's history, mostly happened during his adolescent life, from his point of view.

I blame myself for falling asleep. Not the book's fault.

But I really enjoy the chapter on the power couple's relationship, Tun's childhood and also on his career as a doctor.

That's it, a quick introduction of the memoir. I'm now in Chapter 14. Not even half. Pfft

Off to meet the girls now!

Ttyl :)

Red & White

I've always like red and white.

And Dayana seems to know it ;)

As I was taken by surprise of the whole thing that happened that night, Arif was otherwise.

The only thing that Arif didn't know was that Dayana has brought homemade Pavlova and put them in the car that he drove. Pfft

A part of me still doesn't want to believe him.

I think the homemade Pavlova by Dayana deserves a separate entry.

A close-up of photo of the Pavlova would do its justice.

Arif & Dayana

Me & Boyfie

I'm sorry. I might have to rephrase the 'close-up' part.

Yes, the pictures look more like a close-up photo of our face right?!

But I swear this is the best ever Pavlova I've ever tried.

As it was made with love ;)

Arif's 26th & Shifa's 25th

Got it from the title?

Yes, it was Arif's and Shifa's birthday celebration last Saturday, 5 March 2011 at Fullhouse, Sunway Giza.

A combo of belated celebration for the two of us, organized by the sweetest ever Dayana ;)

Dayana said that it was supposed to be a surprise party and she thought that she has failed to make it look like one.

Huh?!

I was surprised I tell you!! Believe me!!

It was just that I just had my botox injection during the day that my face became so tight and emotionless :S

Just look at this face.....

My doctor reminded me not to frown or smile. So the smile ended up like this.

Kidding!

Who needs botox at 25?! I'm grateful with what I am. Alhamdulillah...

And I'm also grateful to have them as my friends. You guys made my day ;)

Back : Syed, Shigim, Anas, Aliza, Ross, Boyfie / Front : Azzwaa, Raeesa, Bday Girl, Bday Boy, Dayana

I appreciate all the efforts that my girl Dayana has put into it. She is such a darling that I lost for words when I wanted to thank her!

The pavlova, the misspelled labels (LOL), the balloons, the people, the venue, the little one (R.A.R), the time, the love, the oyster shot (YIKES!) etc etc etc...

Thanks for everything darling!

I want to hug you again!!

A wonderful night indeed. Bliss ;)

Poco-Poco by Batak

I am frustrated with the outcome of the birthday's video. Why can't we rotate video too?! Anyone know how to do so? Tell me if you know..

But the other video, a Poco-Poco song performed by the same band fortunately is much more better. Yes, no tilting head needed.

Enjoy! And ignore the excitement as we danced while seated, in a CAFE, in a HOTEL.

Ultah by Batak

This birthday song was performed by Batak Band at Concorde's Melting Pot Cafe.

Just a simple birthday celebration for Boyfie's 26th birthday.

If the song sounds unfamiliar to you, it's actually an Indonesian Birthday Song that goes something like this...

Panjang umurnya..
Panjang umurnya...
Panjang umurnya....

Serta mulia..
Serta mulia...
Serta mulia....

PS : I smell something fishy.. Hihi..
